The Out & About Y harnesses are waterproof, odor-resistant, easy to maintain,  durable and strong.

Before choosing a harness, please take a look at the “Description,” “Recommended Sizes,” and “Measurement Instructions” sections below.

If your dog has sensitive skin or thin fur, you can opt for the option with seams folded on the outside to avoid irritating the skin at the material junctions.

Regarding colors, you can choose a one-colored or two-colored harness as shown in the examples in the photos.

Please note that the actual colors may slightly differ from those shown in the photos.

The Out & About Y harnesses are waterproof, odor-resistant, easy to maintain, durable, strong and flexible.

What truly makes our harnesses special is the neck buckle – to prevent the stress of putting something over the dog’s head during dressing (many dogs don’t like this, especially anxious ones). The harness also features two buckles on the chest strap, so no part of the harness needs to be put over the head or legs; it is simply fastened and unfastened. The chest strap is adjustable, in case the dog gains or loses a few kilograms.

Choose the harness size according to your furry friend’s size – based on the dog’s weight, we offer an appropriate material width (see under “Recommended Sizes”). The price of the harness depends on the chosen size due to the quantity and width of material used for production.

We custom-make the harness for your dog, so you’ll need to measure them following the instructions provided under “Measurement Instructions.”

Measurement Instructions

When adding the product in cart, please enter the measurements in centimeters like this: A, B, C, D

A – NECK BASE CIRCUMFERENCE:

Place the beginning of the measuring tape on the sternum (you can feel it just below the neck) and take the circumference from that point, around the neck, and back to the starting point. Be careful not to take the measurement too high on the neck but at the very base of the neck. The measuring tape should sit in the indentation just above the shoulders, as that’s where the harness will sit. Make sure not to cover the shoulders with the measuring tape; they should remain free.

B – CHEST CIRCUMFERENCE:

Take the chest circumference at the deepest part of the chest, a few fingers’ width behind the front legs:

  • For small dogs – 3 fingers behind the front legs
  • For medium-sized dogs – 4 fingers behind the front legs
  • For large dogs – a hand’s width (5 fingers) behind the front legs

C – DISTANCE BETWEEN A AND B ON THE BACK:

Measure the distance between measurements A and B along the back. Try to determine as accurately as possible where measurements A and B ended on the back to make measurement C as precise as possible. Note that length C is usually noticeably shorter than length D, so it’s recommended to take this measurement while the dog is standing with its head up.

D – DISTANCE BETWEEN A AND B ON THE CHEST:

Measure the distance between measurements A and B on the chest. Start from the sternum under the neck, then pass the measuring tape over the chest between the front legs to the point on the belly where measurement B was taken when measuring the chest circumference.

Materials and Maintenance

All our equipment is made with high-quality BioThane® material, produced in the USA through an ISO-certified process. It is strong and durable, with a feel similar to leather. What makes it ideal for dog gear is its waterproof nature and the fact that it doesn’t absorb odors.

BioThane® material is easy to maintain – simply rinse it with water and, if needed, use a little soap, and it will look like new again. After washing, you can let it air dry or wipe it with a dry cloth, and it will be dry immediately.

The metal hardware used in making harnesses is made of stainless steel, which is also high-quality, durable, and resistant to all weather conditions, including exposure to saltwater.

The buckles on the harnesses are made of durable plastic – practical and lightweight – ensuring that the harness is overall light and less burdensome for the dog. If you’re concerned about their strength for large dogs, rest assured, as the pressure when dogs pull on the leash is on the front chest ring and the back ring – so it’s crucial that the connections on these parts are solid, which is ensured by the stainless steel rings and rivets. The buckles primarily serve to keep the materials together and make it easier to put on and take off the harness from the dog.
