The Extra Safe Y harness is a Y-shaped harness with an additional strap around the body, and it’s a good choice for dogs with deep chests and narrow waists, such as Greyhounds or Peruvian Inca Orchids, as well as for fearful dogs that tend to escape or slip out of their gear.
The additional strap around the body prevents the dog from wiggling out, while ensuring that it doesn’t cause any discomfort.
Both types of our harnesses come with a neck buckle, so the harness doesn’t need to be put over the dog’s head but can be fastened like a collar. The body straps have two buckles each, making it easy and quick to put on and take off the entire harness.
Please select the size of the harness based on your dog’s measurements – according to your dog’s weight, we offer the appropriate width of the material (see “Recommended Sizes”).
The price of the harness depends on the chosen size due to the quantity and width of the material used in its production. We make the harness specifically tailored to your dog, so you’ll need to measure your dog according to the instructions provided in the “Measurement Instructions” section.

If your pup is between sizes, we recommend to choose smaller one for fearful dogs, and larger one for more stronger or energetic pups.
Measurement Instructions
When adding product to cart, please add measurements in centimeters like this: A, B, C, D, E, F
A – NECK BASE CIRCUMFERENCE:
Place the beginning of the measuring tape on the sternum (you can feel it just below the neck) and take the circumference from that point, around the neck, and back to the starting point. Be careful not to take the measurement too high on the neck but at the very base of the neck. The measuring tape should sit in the indentation just above the shoulders, as that’s where the harness will sit. Make sure not to cover the shoulders with the measuring tape; they should remain free.
B – CHEST CIRCUMFERENCE:
Take the chest circumference at the deepest part of the chest, a few fingers’ width behind the front legs:

- For small dogs – 3 fingers behind the front legs
- For medium-sized dogs – 4 fingers behind the front legs
- For large dogs – a hand’s width (5 fingers) behind the front legs
C – DISTANCE BETWEEN A AND B ON THE BACK:
Measure the distance between measurements A and B along the back. Try to determine as accurately as possible where measurements A and B ended on the back to make measurement C as precise as possible. Note that length C is usually noticeably shorter than length D, so it’s recommended to take this measurement while the dog is standing with its head up.
D – DISTANCE BETWEEN A AND B ON THE CHEST:
Measure the distance between measurements A and B on the chest. Start from the sternum under the neck, then pass the measuring tape over the chest between the front legs to the point on the belly where measurement B was taken when measuring the chest circumference.
E – CHEST CIRCUMFERENCE:
Measure the circumference of the body diagonally towards the private parts. Start from the point on the spine where measurement C on the back ends and take the circumference of the body slightly diagonally. It’s important to take this measurement on the ribs, not behind them, to avoid putting pressure on the soft parts of the abdomen.
F – DISTANCE BETWEEN B AND E ON THE BELLY:
Measure the distance between measurements B and E on the belly.
Materials and Maintenance
All our equipment is made with quality BioThane® material produced in the USA through an ISO-certified process. It is strong and durable with a texture similar to leather. What makes it ideal for dog equipment is its waterproof property and the fact that it doesn’t absorb odors.
BioThane® material is easy to maintain – simply rinse it with water and optionally use a little soap, and it will look like new again. After washing, you can let it air dry or just wipe it with a dry cloth, and it will be dry immediately.
The metal components used in making the harnesses are made of stainless steel, which is also of high quality, durable, and resistant to all weather conditions, including exposure to sea and saltwater.
The buckles on the harnesses are made of plastic for practicality and lightness, ensuring that the harness is as lightweight and less burdensome as possible for the dog.
If you are concerned about their strength for large dogs – don’t worry, as the pressure from dogs pulling on the leash is on the front chest strap and the back ring, so it’s essential that the connections on these parts are solid. That’s why we use stainless steel rings and rivets to ensure their durability.
The buckles serve to hold the material together and make it easier to put on and take off the harness from the dog.
